Energy Flow

These universal concepts embrace the idea of organization, or order versus disorder.

Energy:
The Chinese system of Feng Shui says you can harmonize and enhance energy flow by properly arranging your living and working areas and removing clutter.

Business:
Business management systems promote organized filing and well-ordered organizational charts to promote smooth flow within the company.

Physical Fitness: Exercise programs often focus on developing specific muscle groups for balanced and coordinated function.

House and Home: Basic closet and garage organization allows for easy access and fast execution of tasks.

Human body: Cell organization is more efficient when cell walls are intact, keeping things that should be in the cell in and keeping things that shouldn’t be in the cell out.

Entropy:  Entropy measures the degree of disorder in a substance or system. There is always balance in the universe. While one area gets more ordered, additional chaos occurs in another part of the universe. When entropy increases, the available energy diminishes. Another way of putting it - increased entropy equals more chaos and decreased entropy equals more order.  More chaos means less available energy and more order means more available energy.

Physics:  Things in the universe tend to move toward more entropy, that is, more chaos or more sameness. Instead of having distinct colors, things start to blend and move toward a sameness of color. I always envisioned a color palate blending into a murky shade of gray.

Spiraling:  When organizing your house, you start in one area and pretty soon the rest of the room starts looking very chaotic and disorganized compared to the clean area. You then feel compelled to organize the rest of the room. By comparison, other rooms in the house now seem very disorganized. This can escalate until you begin to notice the disorganization of the rest of the neighborhood.  Similarly, when one neighbor cleans his personal space it starts to influence the rest of the neighborhood. It’s a natural law of spiraling to more order and, likewise, it can spiral in the other direction as well. Graffiti seems to be so destructive because it starts the trend for more chaos and disorder.

Health:
This whole concept of organization also applies to health.  I have seen people who start getting more fit by taking daily walks.  As their legs get firmer, they notice the flabbiness of their upper body muscles. That inspires them to start a strengthening program to tone their upper body. Soon they notice they feel better eating certain foods and begin modifying their diet.  Eventually, they enjoy more vigorous activities overall.

Change is a natural law:  Change either moves toward more organization and order or in the opposite direction of increased chaos and disorder. Any attempt to increase the order in your life will increase the available energy for you. The natural flow of energy will influence your life one way or the other.
